t was a white winter; the snow was drifting on the Great Wall. Thick layers of snow piled up on the
mountains as workers slowly layered the bricks onto the frosted earth.

A young lady climbed up the Great Wall in search of her husband. The snow was dancing and wind
led as she walked. Her black silky hair flew as the strong wind rustled. The coldness trickled down her
spine as she rubbed her hands together. The weather was so cold that her skin turned as pale as the moon in the
night sky.
I
Tiffany, why are you here?” asked one of the workers.
I’ve waited for my husband for 13 years, and he hasn’t returned. Where is he?” Tiffany said.
Umm… he…was killed…during an accident a long time ago.” The worker stammered.
WHERE IS HE? I need to see him. Where is his body then?” Tiffany cried.
A lot of workers died when they were building this wall, he could be anywhere.” He replied hopelessly.
Tiffany went searching for her husband everywhere, under the bricks, under the thick snow, but she couldn’t
find him. Tears poured down from her eager eyes; she wept and cried and all the other workers sobbed, and she
was so loud that few parts of the Great Wall fell and broke. She held in her hands the delicate handkerchief that
her husband gave her on their marriage, gently touching the two butterflies sewed on the handkerchief.
She walked on and on, she never stopped, until she reached a tall mountain and she swept the snow off her long
pink dress.
The wind hustled. In between the trees she saw in her dream that there was a beam of light shining. She
followed the light and she heard a familiar voice. It was her husband! She ran to him and hugged him.
However, when she woke up, she couldn’t find her husband. “I don’t believe that he died, he wouldn’t
leave me alone! Or else I wouldn’t have had that dream!” said Tiffany with a trembling voice. From then, she
continued to wait for him and she soon turned into a rock, the Amah Rock.
One day, there was a storm, the sky gradually turned dark and the ferocious thunder grumbled, the
lightning stroke, rain poured down, soaking the mud beside her. Suddenly, a lightning struck onto the Amah
Rock, it crunched right down the middle of the rock.
She woke up, rubbing her eyes. She could see masses of people staring at her, murmuring something to
each other. They were all wearing something different to her, t-shirt and jeans, taking out a rectangular object
facing her. She slowly stood up as the strangers gazed at her in astonishment. Surprisingly, a man came to her
and asked her “Are you okay?” She was shocked. “I’m Colin, you are…” Tiffany hesitated. She crawled to the
side and muttered “I’m Tiffany.” She was surprised. “Where am I? Why is everyone so different to me? Where
is my husband?”
This is Beijing, the capital of China. I’m a guide here, are you lost?” said Colin. She took out the
handkerchief and clutched it in her hands. “Where’s my husband? He didn’t die right? Just tell me he didn’t
die!” Tiffany shouted in fear.
Don’t worry, we will find him. Can you tell me his name?” said Colin, comforting her, helping her feel
calm.
Bring me to him, please!” pleaded Tiffany. Colin nodded and he guided Tiffany around the city. There
were a lot of people. The crowd was like a herd of elephants, squeezing and squashing each other. They
squeezed through the crowds and slid into the metro station. Tiffany started explaining and telling Colin the
