He hissed, gesturing, once again, to Jack. The next thing both children knew was that they couldn’t breathe.
Then they blacked out.
When Alice woke up, she found herself in a sort of cell, with Jack still unconscious. When she saw
Wutong standing right in front of her, she screamed, waking Jack beside her. When he saw Wutong, he jumped.
The sight of Wutong was enough to make a person forget about all nice things in the world. Alice, feeling much
more than irritated about having her foster parents kidnapped because of him, asked in Chinese, ‘Now that you
have us, would you be at least kind enough to tell me what sort of ‘power’ I possess and why you want it?”
Wutong simply shrugged. “You’ll find out soon enough” he said, and walked away, leaving the guards to watch
Jack and Alice.
A few hours later, Jack and Alice had retreated into staring at the wall, certain they were going to die.
Suddenly, with a loud crash of banging, a glowing man was standing in front of them, opening the cell door.
Who are you?” asked Alice, alarmed with the dead guards lying at her feet. The glowing man smiled at her
genuinely, dressed as a warrior but looked about as angelic as the ones you see in a story book. “That doesn’t
matter, what matters is that you come with me to safety immediately” he whispered, and made a hole in the roof,
then flew out, taking Jack and Alice with them.
When Jack, Alice, and the glowing man stopped flying, Jack literally collapsed on the marble ground.
Next time… when you do something like that… give some warning beforehand, please” Jack panted. The man
just grinned, and spoke in perfect English, “I apologize, but time was short. Anyway, that was fun, right?” he
asked hopefully. Before Jack could say anything, Alice cut in. “You speak English?” she asked, clearly
impressed. He nodded. ‘Gift of the tongue is a power of the gods.’ He replied. Jack immediately jumped to
attention. “Wait, did you say gods?” he asked quickly, obviously thinking he heard wrong. The man just nodded
patiently. “Come, I think someone wants to see you. You’ll see why soon.” He said, leading them through a
luminous hallway.
The magnificent god sitting on the golden throne was glowing so much that Alice and Jack had to
shield their eyes from him. “When he saw Alice, he bellowed, ‘Alice! You made it here! Now, I suppose you
know why we need you here. Remember, when you are carrying out the plan, you must be careful not to hurt
any of us, but hurt as many of them as you can.” Alice, who was clueless, asked, “I’m sorry, but I actually don’t
know what this ‘plan’ is. Anyone care to enlighten me?” She asked hopefully. She felt the god glare at the man
that flew them here. ‘You didn’t tell her about the plan?’ he raged. The man bowed his head and said, ‘We were
short of time, and the rest of hell’s warriors were closing up on us.’ He replied calmly. Jack and Alice stared at
the god for a while, and then he breathed heavily. ‘We will enlighten both these children about our plan, and
tell them what we are. Come with me, Alice and Jack.’
Alice felt shocked and light-headed after the god had told her who her real parents were. Her father was
actually the guardian god of the Great Wall of China, now dead because the devil wanted the lost souls buried in
the clay of the Great Wall. Her mother was a human and left Alice for some unknown reason. Alice also had a
