kill me.” Qing Feng said, stepping forward.
Are you sure? I will send my whole army on horseback to catch you!” the general laughed, snarling.
I’m sure, I guess…” Qing Feng glanced at Xiao Li, with uncertainty flickering in her eyes.
Okay, then… Three…two…one…GO!” the general ordered.
At that moment, the whole army sprang forward, and the thudding of steady hoofbeats could be heard as
most of the army chased after Qing Feng.
Catch her and bring her to me. If you can’t even catch a girl for me, then… well, you know what
happens!” The general commanded.
Qing Feng ran like the wind. She arrived at Shanhaiguan, then through Qinghai. She zigzagged up and
down the mountain and hoped to throw off her pursuers. She could hear the heavy panting of the horses as
they followed her through Gangsu and Ningxia. Qing Feng still hasn’t felt tired, but she knew she would soon.
She zipped past Shaanxi, Inner Mongolia and Shanxi, but there were still a hundred soldiers on their horses
racing behind her. They did not care how tired their horses were. They knew that if they did not return with
Qing Feng’s head, they themselves would get executed.
As Qing feng slowly jogged through Hebei, Beijing and Tianjin, perspiration dripped from her forehead.
Never in her life had she ran full speed for so far, so long. Now, that she had ran for so far, there was only a
single soldier behind her, walking tiredly. Qing Feng could not hold for any longer. And she collapsed at the
foot of the Hushan Mountains in Liaoning. The one last soldier pursuing her had fainted and dropped into a
river ten meter behind Qing Feng. Qing Feng had won the competition. But she had also lost her life.
Qing Feng had run from the west of the vast empire to the east. The Gods in the sky had seen what
happened and they were moved by her her persistency and love for her own family, village and friends. They
all agreed that she should have eternal life like them. So, that night, Qing Feng’s corpse rose towards the
heavens. She became the Guardian of Wing, living up to her name, but she also protected her village
whenever it was in danger. Her friends and family was sad that Feng had died, but they could feel her
protecting them every moment.
The Gods were still very impressed that Qing Feng had ran all the way, so in order to let more people
know her deeds, they built a long path along the way Feng had ran. The path was later known as the Great
Wall of China.
If you would visit the Great Wall of China someday, you might like to trace the path Qing Feng had ran all
those years ago. You would awe in amazement as you glance at a map of China, showing you the length of the
Great Wall. You too, will be impressed by her persistency and understand why she had rose to be a God after
she died.
