The Unexpected Meeting

w man! I can’t believe it’s raining,” I groaned as I gazed at the Great Wall of China. The rain
decided to drizzle only seconds after we’d arrived.
Oh come on Michelle, don’t be such a killjoy,” Gregory eyed me disapprovingly. “Oh
look! People are starting to leave! We can do our sightseeing in peace,” he continued
cheerfully.
He was right. Impatient tourists decided to discontinue their journeys up on the Great Wall and were
starting to get onboard their tour buses.
Though we were carrying umbrellas, Eddie and I decided to buy two plastic raincoats and began our
journey. The Great Wall seemed to us like a crouching dragon in the mist.
After half an hour or so, the rain stopped. Gregory and I leaned on the bricks of the Wall and took deep
breaths as we tried to take in the magnificent colors of the sky. As we walked even further up the Wall, there
were fewer and fewer people and we walked until we saw none. Then we started chanting loudly songs from
Les Misérables and One Direction. Eventually the darkness was starting to consume the sky and I was getting
tired.
Hey Greg, let’s just call it a day. It’s getting dark and everybody’s gone.”
No…” pleaded Gregory. “Let’s stay for a little while and enjoy the peace. Ha… what a wonderful day,”
That was when I decided to ignore him and started to walk down. Gregory had no choice but to follow me.
Suddenly, in a distant no more than ten feet in front of us, a large helicopter crash- landed with a huge bang. I
screamed my head off. It was dark and there was no way we could have seen a helicopter coming down.
As Gregory and I regained our consciousness of this horrendous situation, we hurried towards the
helicopter. We opened the door and saw two people on the floor near the chairs struggling to get up.
Immediately I took out my mobile phone to call the police, but a voice cried, “Please! Don’t call the police!”
I looked up from my mobile phone screen and saw a girl and a boy both of the same age looking at us
with extreme urgency.
Please! Don’t call the police!” repeated the boy.
Gregory ran over to them and asked if they were okay. Strangely, they were.
Who…Who are you?” I stammered.
The next ten minutes were probably the most astonishing of my life. The girl and the boy were siblings.
The girl, Ruchelle, and her brother Eddie, looked exactly like us – us, as in us members of the earth. Oh yes,
they were aliens. Aliens from a planet called Siu.
There’s no such planet,” said Gregory in a matter-of-fact tone.
Ruchelle and Eddie chuckled. “Of course there is,” said Ruchelle.
Then she began to explain: 4500 years ago, God has decided to flood the earth. Everyone knows that God
saved Noah and his family but what they didn’t know, was that God had also chosen some other people and took
them to the planet Siu. It was an extremely tiny planet located 200 million km from the Earth with a total area of
only one-tenth of the Earth. They were technologically more advanced than us. They had computers just like
ours though despite their long distance from us they were able to connect with our Internet through their
computers.
Wow! So you guys are aliens… but technically you are human beings, just like us!” I remarked
excitedly.
Yes, but [lease, promise me, don’t tell anybody about us,” said Eddie.
You know, I really think you people should share your knowledge and your extremely advanced
technology with us. I mean come on! Travelling in 200 million kilometres in a helicopter? You’ve got to be
kidding me.”
I believe that one day, we will all be united. But not now, Michelle. It’s extremely dangerous.”
So… what about your helicopter? I suppose you guys have never intended it to crash like this, did you?”
Oh no,” Eddie answered. “It was an accident. The helicopter was supposed to be invisible but then… I
don’t know what had happened. Oh well, I better call my mom for help.”
Gregory and I watched in utter fascination as Eddie called his mother. “Yes ma… the helicopter crashed.
Yes, two humans saw us. No it’s not that big a deal. We’re at the Great Wall of China… Alright. See ya.”
How much does it cost for you to call your mom in outer-space?” asked Gregory.
It’s completely free,” giggled Ruchelle.
