Nodding her head, she sighed out sadly, “and only government officials are a sure in to stay alive.
Everyone else has to be either super rich or part of the resistance; we have somewhere safe to hide.” Jamie
realizes that this might be one of the biggest stories of the millennium, and a chance to warn everyone. But what
would be the point, not everyone would be able to survive.
Being who you are, you can either alert the public of this now, or join the resistance and keep quiet.
Big consequences are tied with both of those options, but the decision is completely up to you.” The seriousness
of the situation hit Jamie like a ton of bricks, why on Earth had he been put into this mess. What happened to
staying fair and being equal, like the history books had put as communistic beliefs? Jamie scratched his head,
and rubbed his temples not really knowing how to react.
It's getting late, I should go now. Hopefully I’ll be able to see you in the future. Good luck.” And with
that, she walked through the door and left Jamie there pondering his thoughts with only a name, information that
could change the world, and a couple bills for the drinks.
What should I do, was the only thing going through Jamie’s head all night and all morning. Should I
warn everyone, or would that create so much havoc that what happened in the movie twenty-twelve will
happen? Is it worth it?
Today I have some surprising news,” Kenny looked at Jamie confused but didn't say anything as he
zoomed in on his face. Today the sky was clear and the birds were chirping as if singing a goodbye song. The
barrier was buzzing, the sun shone off the camera lens, and the red light flashed in his face.
Jamie took a deep breath, “it’s kind of all hard to take in but I’m telling all of you because I believe we
have a right to know, you have a right to know.” He pointed at the field that stood in the place of the Great Wall,
this is to protect China from being destroyed...”
The story was told and there was chaos in every country. People fought for a surviving chance, and
there was no humanity left in the world. Savage beasts now, everyone either had the option of being killed or die
trying to survive.
Human nature was no more than a distant memory, and Jamie had forgotten what is was like to wake
up in the morning, have breakfast while reading the newspaper, and go to work like any other middle-class
citizen. And somewhere, Sierra was sitting there watching the news and smiling sadly. Had she not told him, no
one would have known until it was too late.’
I turned to the students and was astonished to see the number of them that were still awake. Sure, there
were one or two unruly students who had dozed off for the last half, but it was incredible to see how many were
paying attention to the story.
So, what did you think about that? Didn’t I tell you Chinese history could be changed and presented in
a fun and exciting way?” A girl with pigtails and glasses raised her hand and said,
That wasn’t really Chinese history though, Mr Law.” I shook my head and smiled at her, “but it was
about something that was based on Chinese history. You see, the Great Wall of China was built to do one thing
and that one thing was to protect China. In the story, the same reason applied; the barrier where the Great Wall
was, was there to protect China.” She nodded in understanding and took notes in her notebook. “Anyone else
have a question?”
One student in the back raised her hand, “so what happened to Jamie? Did he die or did he join the
resistance?” Everyone else murmured and nodded, curious to see what happened to Jamie. Smiling, I shook my
head, “what happened to Jamie is a completely different story that I’ll save for another class.”
There was a big wave of “aww’s’” and “not fair’s” but I held my ground and chuckled. “Maybe next
lesson, okay?” The bell rang obnoxiously and echoed in the classroom, “okay class, have a good weekend!
Don’t forget, our trip to the Great Wall is on Monday so don’t be late!”
