A New Tale of the Great Wall
Nuclear man

s the saying goes, "If you have never been to the Great Wall, you are not a true man." Last year, I was
so honored that I was able to visit the spectacular building in Beijing. However, an incredible,
marvellous incident happened and I have learnt a precious lesson from it. It went like this.
“
Sam, did you bring enough clothes? It is cold there.” said Mum.”
“
Yeah, I did,” I said.
“
You should be careful there and take care of yourself. Don’t talk to strangers. Take care of your belongongs
and……”Mum said endlessly.
“
Mum. I’m not three years old. I’ll take care of myself. Ok?”
“
But let me finish the last sentence .Remember to buy……”
“
Souvenirs, right? Ok! I have to go now”
“
Take care of yourself .See you,”said Mum and gave me a big hug.
The next day, I got up in the hotel. The sunlight came into my room. “What a wonderful day !”I shouted. I
went to the balcony and I could see the great wall in the far distance. It looked like a giant flying dragon that
was disappearing in the fog. I couldn’t wait to see it so I tidied up my knapsack immediately and set off.
When I arrived there, the great wall was in front of me. Suddenly, I felt very proud to be Chinese. I walked
on the Great Wall and I appreciated the view. There were many mountains surrounding me and I smelled the
fresh air. In addition, I explored the history of the Great Wall and I looked at every stone carefully. Oh! I saw
a stone that was shining. “Perhaps because of the sunlight’s reflection.”I thought and I walked a few paces to see
it more clearly. “Ahhhh!”I exclaimed. Then I looked around and confirmed that no one had noticed me. It was
not the sunlight’s reflection. I found a big red gem between two stones. It was very shiny, sparkling and
transparent .I put it into my knapsack.
All of sudden, the ground was shaking and cracking. Many buildings collapsed. People were screaming and
running away. We all thought it was an earthquake. I followed the running crowd. A while later, it stopped
shaking. However, an enormous shadow covered us. A giant monster appeared. It was brown in color except its
eyes were red in color. Its body was full of mucus and wreaked of a very strong odour. It was walking toward us.
“
It’s an alien about to attack the earth. ”I thought. It shot red light and attacked us with its eyes. Many people
were hurt and died. OH! It was not only one. A lot of monsters came out from the ground .They destroyed
everything and killed many people. I was so frightened. I saw there was a hole and I hid inside. I closed my eyes
and covered my ears with my hands.
A moment later, there was silence. So, I crawled out from the hole. I saw many corpses lying on the Great
Wall. I could not see any survivors. I put down my phone and went to call my mum but the phone did not work.
I thought it was because the communication system was destroyed. I felt helpeless and I sat down on the floor
and cried. I missed my mum so much. I wanted to go home. I did not know what to do next.
“
Hello! Anybody here? ”I heard someone ask. I was so glad that someone was still alive. “I’m here ,”I
shouted excitedly. I saw a lady and I walked to her. “Come with me. I’ll take you to a safe place. ”she said and I
followed her. “I’m Sam .What’s your name?”I asked. “I’m Kelly. ”she said. We walked along the Great Wall
and stopped in a watchtower. Kelly opened a brick door on the ground and there was a stair leading downwards.
She turned on a torch to illuminate our surroundings and I followed after her carefully.

When we reached the end, an old man opened the little door. He wore a white robe and safety goggles. He
looked like a scientist. “Come in,” he said. The room was not big and there were different chemicals and
apparatuses in it. “My dear, a new powerful nuclear energy gun is almost finished,” he said proudly. “Wow!
That’s great. Let me introduce you to him first. He is my grandpa. And he is Sam who I saw on the Great Wall.
My grandpa is inventing a nuclear energy gun to kill the nuclear man, ”Kelly said. “Nuclear man? ”I asked
confusedly. “Yea, they are the monsters that you have seen just now, ”said Kelly. “ I predicted that there are
another organisms living in the earth’s core because I am an outstanding scientist. Hahaha! Therefore, I worked
very hard to invent a weapon to defeat them. Nonetheless, I did not expect that day to come so early. I haven’t
finished it yet, ”the old man said . He turned on the most advanced technological radio that I had ever seen. It
worked though the communication system had been destroyed. And he gave Kelly and me a hot tea.
