In ancient China, there once lived a young, beautiful princess called Lynn. Princes from all around
the world came to China just to see her, even if they could only take a glimpse of her. They asked for her hand
many times, but Princess Lynn always rejected their requests.

Princess Lynn didn’t want fame or fortune, but just true love. She knew in her heart that the princes came
for either her fortune or for her beauty. She promised herself a few years ago that she would only marry the
prince who loved her for who she was.
Day by day, Princess Lynn became fed up of seeing princes she would never marry. So, she disguised
herself as a maid and went out of the palace. She came upon a young village boy on the Great Wall, murmuring,
Why can’t they like who I am?” she thought this boy had the same problem as herself, so she sat down next to
him.
The boy was shocked. Princess Lynn whispered to him, “ I have the same problem as you.” The boy
thought that she was just another village girl, instead of a princess, so he talked to her like a friend.
Do boys harass you every day?” he asked.
Princess Lynn shyly replied, “Yes.”
Same here with girls!” he joked. After some conversations, Princess Lynn found out that the boy is
someone who truly loved his family and the boy found out that Princess Lynn was a kind, caring girl. At sunset,
he gave her his precious jade necklace and left towards the village. “I finally found my true love!” thought
Princess Lynn, as she dreamily walked back to the castle.
For the next few days, Princess Lynn wore the jade necklace. On the third day, another young prince came
to see her. Princess Lynn sighed, but still was on her best behavior. The grand, golden door opened, and in came
the prince, the same village boy she had met a few days ago. Immediately, both the prince and the princess
recognized each other!
No doubt, the happy couple got married and lived happily ever after!
With a twinkle in my Grandmother’s eyes, she placed the jade necklace in my hand and said, “ May you
find your true love.” she paused, and whispered into my ears, “ Just like your ancestor.”
