One day, my father asked me, “Can you get some wood for the fireplace?”
“
Yes, Dad.” I answered. So I went out to find some wood. I couldn’t find big pieces of wood for the
fireplace. Then, far away, I could see a forest. I started to walk towards it. I thought I could get lots of wood
there. At first, I couldn’t find any. Then, I went a little bit in. There was wood! Then I noticed. ‘It’s a trail!’ I
followed the trail until I heard, “Attack! Kill them all!”
“
Ahhh! Run away!”
I quickly wanted to go back to my house but I wanted to know what was going on. So I decided to see what
was going on. I went closer to the sound. “Ahhhhh!!” I was scared. I used all my strength to scream. There were
the Mongolians! They were killing the Chinese people. I thought I was sage because I was a visitor to this
country, but I was wrong. The Mongolians thought I was a Chinese person so one started to chase me! I ran as
fast as I could. Then I remembered the wood trail. I kept my eye on that but ran in zigzags. The Mongolian
following me got tired so he gave up. I came back home and told the whole story, but my parents didn’t believe
me. I didn’t want my family to be killed so I had to do something so the Mongolians wouldn’t be able to attack
us. So I searched on the internet ‘What can protect China?’ It said, ‘Chinese people believe that dragons would
protect them.’ Then I wanted to tell the Chinese people. So, I asked my Dad if I could go out and he said yes. I
went through the forest. I saw groups of people trying to discuss about how to defeat the Mongolians. Then I
thought it was a good chance to tell them. I walked to the group and explained, “Everyone, we can have dragons
protecting us. I learned that you had to have two things. It’s a model of three dragons, wind water, and fire. The
other thing is a key. There’s a hole in the model and if you put the key in it, it will turn into a real dragon. Then
we can have them stay at the north and protect us. They can blow fire, water, and wing and we will defeat the
Mongolians. But if the Mongolians crack the model, the real-life dragon will turn into rocks and stones. So, we
can’t let the Mongolians find the model.” Then everyone cheered.
“
Ummm. Everyone, I think I have the model. my grandma gave it to me to use when danger comes. But I
don’t have the key.” someone spoke. Then we were all worried.
“
I think I have the key. My grandma also gave it to me. She said I had to find something to put the key in
and I think it’s the key to the model.” another person spoke. Then we cheered as hardest as we could.
The people told me to put the key in because I gave the idea. I was nervous but I tried to be brace and I put
it in. Then suddenly the earth began to shake. Roarrrr!!!! We all saw the dragons. We were scared. The captain
calmed down and told the dragons to go to the north and protect us from the Mongolians. They flew and flew
until we couldn’t see them anymore.
“
Uh oh. Where’s the model and the key?” I asked.
“
The dragons took it.” someone answered.
“
I hope the Mongolians don’t find it.” I mumbled.
The next day, the Mongolians started to attack, but they couldn’t defeat us. They shot arrows at the dragons
but it didn’t work. The dragons shot things out of their mouth. The Mongolians ran away.
The next day, the dragons were sleeping so a spy from Mongolia looked around the dragon. He found the
model! He didn’t like it so he cracked it. Then, the dragons started to turn into stones! I was going to check on
the dragons. Then, I knew somebody cracked the model. So I ran to the dragons and I saw the spy. I ran to the
captain and said to destroy him because he turned our dragons into rocks. I was so mad and angry. So the
country was all mad, and we got stronger. We beat the Mongolians and from that day, they didn’t attack us.
