I went home after school and found my birthday present on my bed. I unwrapped it. It was a book.
as a very good present as I love reading.
The title of the book was “The History of the Great Wall in China.” There were many beautiful
ures of the Great Wall in the book. I also learnt lots of different facts about the Great Wall. I
learnt that it was built in China by a cruel Chinese Emperor. The Great Wall was built to protect the people in
China as there were many wars during that period. Ironically, a lot of people also died in building the Great
Wall as it required extremely hard work. I was sad to learn about this fact.

When I was indulging myself in reading, I suddenly felt very dizzy. When I had a clearer mind, I saw many
people around me but they did not dress like us at all. It appeared that I had gone into the book! I was very
scared and definitely I did not want to be a worker building the Great Wall. I also did not want to meet the
cruel Emperor.
When I walked closer to the “people” building the wall, I found out that they were in fact not human beings
but fairies. Oh! I arrived in fairy land instead of ancient China! I saw some fairies moving some candies and
fairy gems around which were used for building the Great Wall in fairyland. I asked the fairies why they needed
a Great Wall in fairyland. I hoped that it had nothing to do about wars. A fairy told me that the Great Wall was in
fact for children fairies to climb up and down the wall to train their limbs. The king of fairyland would like all
the children to grow much taller and stronger and have long long hands and legs like aliens! The Great Wall was
also meant to be a playground. I was happy to hear that.
The new Great Wall was in rainbow colours and was beautiful. I walked along the Great Wall. I saw some
children fairies climbing up and down the wall and their action was smooth. I also met the king. He looked very
pleased with the wall.
I saw a door hang down from the sky at the end of the Great Wall. I was curious where it would lead me to
so I opened the door. I went through it and there was a burst of sparkles and a dangling sound.
I then found myself back in my own room at home. At the same time, my mum came in my room and said
I have been looking for you for so long!” I giggled and gave my mum a smile. My mum would never know
where I had been. Wow! What an exciting adventure!
