New Tales of the Great Wall

udy and Lizzie are drawing pictures of a special violin. They are sitting on chairs outside the house. The
sky is cloudy and the weather is hot like an oven. “Your picture is ugly like a pig! But my picture is like a
marvelous violin, the teacher will be impressed by me!” said Judy. “No mine is beautiful like a true violin
dancing in the air!” said Lizzie.

Just then, Lizzie’s mum said on the phone, “Judy! Judy! Twister is coming! Please go back to our
house!” Judy didn’t listen, but Lizzie heard the voice and thought that she should go to her house, so she did that.

Lizzie had a dream, in that dream, while she was taking a bus to go home, she realized that she missed the
station, so she got off the bus.
When she arrived to the place, she said, “Where am I?” the people said, “You are in the land of the Great
Wall now.” Lizzie was scared. Quick as a wink, Qin, the emperor who owned the palace of The Great Wall,
appeared. He saw her and said, “Hi! Why are you here? Don’t you know it is year 3999 ?” Lizzie said, “Huh?
Aren’t you lying? It should be year 2012?” Qin said “Ok! If you don’t trust me, you come and have a look at the
Great Wall.”
After that, Qin got a bag and gave it to Lizzie. He didn’t tell Lizzie it was a special bag, he just told her to
press the button.
All of a sudden, Lizzie was flying through the air and she was feeling dizzy. She started feeling tired when
she noticed it! It was the Great Wall! She felt she was crazy and said “Am I dreaming?” She tried to wake up,
but she was unable to wake up. Qin said, “Of course you aren’t dreaming! Don’t you know 4000 years later you
can play! For example, you draw whatever you want! Take a picture with me or build sandcastles, look! There’s
a sandcastle! You can also do these things whenever you want!” So Lizzie took a picture with Qin first, then she
played on the sandcastle, and she thought that it was fun! She also played on the jumpy castle, but suddenly she
heard a familiar voice.
It’s Meng Jiang Nu. She said, “Fan Xiliang, where are you? “ Fan Xiliang said, “Lizzie is playing with me in
the jumping castle! “ “And also me,” said Qin. After that when Meng Jiang was playing with Lizzie, Meng
Jiang said, ‘Aren’t you are orphan?” Lizzie said, “Yes! Truly I am taking a bus back to the orphanage!” Meng
Jiang heard this and wanted to take care of Lizzie, Xiliang also agreed.
A few moments later, Lizzie’s mother said, “Lizzie wake up! Wake up! You’ve got to go to your singing
lesson!” Lizzie said, “No! No! I want to sleep more please! I had such a good dream! Her mom said, “No
you‘ve better go there,” Lizzie woke up slowly and thought, that sure was a wonderful dream!
Lizzie struggled to get up off the floor where she was sleeping. She didn’t know how to get up. Lizzie was
so excited because she noticed the bag and the picture with an emperor and her!
Right away, Lizzie looked at the picture. She could tell it was a real picture with her but how could the
picture travel through time? Next to the picture was the special bag. Slowly, Lizzie picked up the bag and
thought, “ Should I press the button again?” Lizzie owned up to something and if happened to be bad news.

Beep boo, bee boo, beep! Wassss!’ Suddenly, a magical stone attacked Lizzie. By the stone was a message,
‘
Ryno, Ryan whee! Was boo boo! Ha ha ha,’ Judy and Lizzie were very scared. They had accidentally bumped
a pencil sharpener into the button on the bag! That was how they got back to Judy’s bed where they were sitting.
The stone was now changing into different shapes. They were curious why there’s a rock called ‘Ryno Ryan
Whee.’ Lizzie said, “Judy, the rock must be made by our classmate Ryan! He’s a magician!’ Judy said, ”How
can he go to our house? Lizzie said, “Because my big sister Salina told Ryan where our house is!” The stone
suddenly changed into a gold colour.
Judy and Lizzie are afraid of the stone but they keep asking, “Stone! Stone! Are you called Ryan?” He didn’t
reply. He just turned into Ryan, the magician. Ryan said, “Hello! Hello! I just want to tell you that you can’t
press the button, or otherwise my dad, who pretends to be Qin will punish you!”
“
Okay, bye! bye!” spoke Judy. Lizzie and Judy were about to go when Lizzie said, “Wait! Wait!” Ryan
stopped and looked at Lizzie. “What is it you want? I’m a very busy stone!” Lizzie said. “What is happening?
Am I traveling in a dream? Is this really happening?” Lizzie was enjoying herself and her time travels, but the
message said, “You’ll never travel again because you are not allowed. You need to go to school. You need to
guess this riddle on your test! The riddle said, ‘Let the cat out of the bag’ and ‘Turn over a new leaf,’ all these
riddles are related to the adventure you are going to have just now, Lizzie!” the message said.
Lizzie responds quickly and states, “Judy! Judy! Hey! The message said you must treat your friends better
and also me. Don’t you know that you said my picture of a violin looked like a pig! “Judy said, “Sorry! I will
not do that again! Lizzie said, “You must turn over a new leaf!”
From now on, Judy realized something, if she is bad to people, what comes around goes around and she may
lose her friends. In the end, Judy apologises for her bad behaviour . She and Lizzie are now friends again.
