This lesson:

This Reader uses the legend of Nian as a detailed introduction of a Chinese legend. The Reader develops the use of a narrative, which is used throughout the Red Readers to give children more of a challenge with their reading. Typically, Red Readers follow Chinese myths and legends as a means of educating children not only about Chinese language, but also about Chinese culture.
