About the Author

Martha Keswick graduated from Newcastle University, UK, in English Literature. She worked in TV Sales and Marketing for Chrysalis Distribution in London and then for the BBC in Hong Kong. In 2002 she completed an intensive Mandarin course at the University of Singapore where the bug for learning Chinese was born.

About the Illustrator

Mariko Jesse graduated from Central Saint Martin’s College of Art and Design in London where she is currently an associate lecturer. Raised in Hong Kong, she splits her time between Asia and Europe, working as a freelance illustrator and designer. She has worked for leading international clients, including: TIME Magazine, Tiffany and Co., Burberry, The Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group, the MTR Corporation and Penguin Books. Mariko has illustrated two other children’s books named The Crocodile Who Wanted to Be Famous and Sassparilla's New Shoes.
