the deaths of our men. Our selfishness and greed had taken the best of us, as we only cared for the treasure and
our pride. Tolui and I have learnt very valuable lessons in our journey. I believe that the telegram is a curse. It
punished us for our greediness. Perhaps it was test to see how foolish we were. Sadly, I still don’t know who
send the telegram, and what his or her purpose was. It is unfortunate to say that my father died of his greed, but
not honorably. However, my father will always be a hero in our people’s eyes as the infamous leader of our
empire.
Roughly 800 years later, a Mongolian explorer, Saguidei, was marveling the battlefields of Mongolia, and
was hoping for finding an ancient lost artifact to impress himself, and to sell it in a museum for a whole lot of
money. After a while of finding nothing, he sighed, and left. However, on his way going back to the urban area
of Mongolia, he tripped over something. That thing suddenly caught his eye, and he could’ve sworn he never
saw anything like it earlier. He picked it up, and immediately made his way to his hotel. In his room, he cleaned
it and called his family in the States right away for his magnificent discovery. He has found Ögedei Khan’s
journal, the son of the almighty Genghis Khan, and the proof of everything about Genghis’ death. Although the
journal was written in a very ancient dialect of Mongolian, Saguidei had learnt every dialect of the Mongolian
language ever since he was young, so he didn’t have any trouble translating it. After translating it, there was
something bothering him. He recognized a scroll-like sheet that wasn’t supposed to be in the journal. It was in a
very bad condition, and some of the words have disappeared. He decided that it wasn’t important, and decided
to take a nap after all his hard work. However, he still couldn’t sleep, and had to know what that sheet was. He
read the story again and again, but couldn’t figure out what it was. The next morning, he was found dead. The
police couldn’t find out any evidence of his death, except the journal next to him. In his hands, was that sheet.
That sheet turned out to be the telegram Genghis threw in the mountains. It somehow joined the pages of the
journal, as if it was destined to reach Saguidei. The curse killed Saguidei. The same curse Genghis and his group
suffered.
