also made me respect him. He’s a hero to me and I’ll never forget the things he taught me and the stories he told
me. His last words to me were, “Remember what you have seen today.”
I went back to the airport and found my schoolmates all there. Suddenly, the word started working the way it
was before.
“
Ryan! There you are! We were just talking about the great wall! I bet the people would have won the wars if
you were helping them out with your awesome knife techniques eh?” My best friend, Kevin said to me.
I told him honestly, “Nah. Even if I was alive during that time, I wouldn’t risk my life by giving it to war.”
“
But everyone who died became heroes! You will be remembered! Plus, with your talent, you can easily take
down all the enemies! That would be so cool!”
I thought about the bloody floor, the smoked filled scene, the agony cries, the pain on the soldier face… Is that
cool?
“
It’s just not worth it” I winked at him, “I treasure my life too much. War is a bloody game that can never
solve problems. My gift with knives is not meant for violence or competition….It’s a gift that’s given to me to help
me realize some things that I didn’t pay attention to before. Unless you’re a ghost who decided to go for a fight and
isn’t afraid of dying, I don’t think anyone should start and participate in war.”
As I laughed at Kevin’s confused expression, I swear I heard a whisper in the wind, “War indeed is a bloody
game.”
