slaughtering people without even blinking their eyes. Blood flowed like water flowing in a river. The snow
turned crimson red.
As if things could not get any worse, the Xiongnu people destroyed part of the wall and left a gaping hole.
Although most of us suffered serious injuries, General Lee said that we still had to complete the work before the
deadline. Never had I seen people feel so lost, alone and abandoned. It seemed as if the incidents in the past few
days had drained them of their energy and motivation to survive.
That night I lay on my “bed”, made from a thin bed of straw, heart filled with intense fear of not being able
to repair the wall in time. As I stared at the dark empty sky, I saw a ball of blue light pulsating. Driven by
curiosity, I stood up to observe the ball in detail.
What was that ball blue light? I suddenly recalled a movie I saw when I was small. In the movie, John Willis
was transported in time after he touched a ball of blue light. My body quivered with excitement. Would it be it?
Would I be able to go home finally?
At that moment, my instincts kicked in and I practically leaped at the ball. However, I resisted the urge in the
last second. I bit my lips as I felt my heart being torn apart. What should I do? If I chose to go back to the
present, Xiao Niu and the other people may be executed because they couldn’t finish building the Wall before
the deadline .If I chose to stay behind, I may never be able to see my family members again.
Time seemed to pause as I tried to decide. Finally I plucked up my courage and touched the ball.
The earth jolted and I fell on to the ground with tremendous force.

David! You are finally awake! “ Mum gasped, gushing tears of joy and relief .
Apparently, I fell into a hole during a mini-earthquake and was unconscious for a month.
That afternoon, I sat on my bed in the hospital and looked at the lush scenery outside.
I felt grateful that I would not have to suffer any hardship which I thought only existed in my dreams.
Just then, the earth shook and a hole opened up.
