I looked at Mr Cruz and asked breathlessly, ‘Was this true? Was there really a treasure hunt organized by
the tour company?’
Mr Cruz shrugged. ‘I don’t know, but the tour guide seemed baffled when we asked him about it. I
guessed the other seven tour members really tried to go and find out whether it was a set up or not.’
My heart was racing. I rushed out of the room and made a beeline for Morgan’s office.
Morgan!’ Without even knocking, I crashed into his office. ‘Look at this email!’ I cried. I was unable to
control my overwhelming emotions. I thrust him the phone and then clutched at the side of the table, catching
my breath.
Good,’ said Morgan. I looked up. ‘Now, I want to tell you all the details first before you start your
journey tomorrow.’
Due to the black travel alert raised by authorities, it will be utterly impossible for you to travel to China
by the normal means of transport. We have therefore helped you sign up for a private tour on Facebook.’
Morgan turned around his computer for me to see. On the screen of his computer, I could see a Facebook
webpage with headlines that blared ‘Do U Have the Guts to go to the Forbidden Great Wall? Join US!’
I glanced up at Morgan. ‘You want me to join this?’ I asked, raising my eyebrows. ‘Are you sure that this
is not a prank?’ ‘Of course we double checked it.’ Morgan rolled his eyes. ‘It’s already arranged. This tour is in
fact organized by a newlywed couple, Victoria Gray and Roman Gray. There is one thing that I want you to bear
in mind. Bring a notebook and write down everything you see and what you are thinking. Remember, Jolie.
Everything. This is very important…’
Ten minutes later, I was sent home to pack for my seven-day luggage.
Chapter 4
The next morning, I was awakened by the ear-piercing sound of my alarm clock. I sat up grudgingly and
rubbed my eyes. So this is it. I said to myself. This is the day I finally work as an undercover.
At one o’clock, I gathered up my luggage and locked the door behind me as I left.

I suppose what I am writing now can be considered as a diary. Gosh, it’s been years since I have this habit.
I’m currently writing on Victoria and Romans’ private jet plane. Why do you have to order me to write down
everything in the first place? It’s so troublesome.
I arrived here at exactly two o’clock and Victoria and Roman were really wonderful. We still had to wait
for five other tour members. They even have a private pilot! So now I’m here on the plane, waiting, writing and
doodling.

Someone has taken the seat beside me. I’m using my left hand to cover my notebook so that he will not
see what I have written. Oh no, he’s striking a conversation with me, I’ve better stop writing first…
I made friends with the person sitting next to me whose name was Shawn Mary, a man in his fifties.

We’ve finally arrived at China.
We stumble off the plane. Roman quickly hires three cabs to take us to the hotel. He told us to rest a bit
before we try the famous duck here in Beijing. I miss Morgan.

We’re going to the Great Wall today. Everybody seems a bit tense about it as we remember those missing

Dear Mr and Mrs Cruz,
We are happy to announce that there is currently a treasure hunt held in the Great Wall. When
you have arrived there at the third day of your trip, please participate in the hunt and with luck,
you may find the treasure of one thousand pounds.
In order to find the treasure, you must find your way up to the very top of the Great Wall, at
Tower 33, located along route G4. There will be signs to pinpoint the way. When you get there,
there will be instructions on the wall. Follow them and the treasure will be all yours. We hereby
wish you all luck.
Yours sincerely,
