Loveon the Wall

bout 20 years ago, Kung Fu movies were a huge success and inspired foreigners to learn this Chinese
art. Because of this, many of them travelled halfway across the world to China, and wished to master
Kung Fu. Among all these people, there was a young man called Peter, and oh- how little did he
know. He never thought that going to China would change his life forever.

Peter, a 19 years old Swedish Christian boy had taken an interest in Kung Fu a few years
before he finally decided to visit China and fulfill his dream - mastering Kung Fu, which was a huge trend then.
After a few days upon arrival, he met an old skilled Kung Fu master who became his mentor. Seeing he found
the man who could teach him Kung Fu, he made the decision to stay in China for two years.

It had been about two months since he had stayed in the little apartment he rented in Beijing, and he
was already used to the training which started 5 o’clock every morning and ended 9 o’clock. As usual, he was
strolling down the streets, with his hair still damp from the shower he always took after his training. Although
he’d been there for two months already, it struck him that he never did anything else but training and eating
every day. Well, he went to the mall once to buy some sweaters, but that was about it. He realized he had never
been to any other places besides the shops that lay around the building he lived in. As he reached the corner on
the left that lead him back to his apartment, he turned right and headed towards the unknown. It was time for a
change.
As he walked down and down the opposite street, he found a lot of interesting stuff. There were
necklaces, hair pins for girls and beautiful shells. He was wandering around when he saw it - the Great Wall of
China. He had heard tales of how significant it was before, and he remembered how he had always laughed
when he heard those ‘stupid stories’. Now when he’s really looking at it, it was a whole different story. He had
never, ever seen anything as magnificent as it before. While he was admiring the Great Wall, he saw people
walking up. Awesome, he thought and grinned, challenge accepted.
Halfway up, Peter sat on the ground and took a rest. He leaned back on the wall, stretched out his legs
and closed his eyes, feeling the heat of the sun beating on him. All of a sudden, he felt someone tripping over his
legs. Immediately he opened his eyes and reached out to stop the person from hitting the ground. “Oh God, I’m
so sorry..gosh. Are you alright? I didn’t mean to..” he looked up and, boy, was he stunned. Right there in front
of him was the most beautiful girl he’d ever seen - she had long, silky black hair, almond shaped eyes and
luscious red lips. He didn’t realize he was staring until the girl started to blush. “I’m very sorry, miss.” He said.
Suddenly he was aware that maybe the girl didn’t know any English at all! But then, the girl started to smile.
No problem,” she said, “I’m sorry too, for waking you.” Peter was delighted she understood English. Her
English wasn’t bad, either! He was all of a sudden conscious that his hands were sweating heavily. He couldn’t
believe it! He was actually nervous! “I’m sorry for almost breaking your beautiful face, miss.” He said, picking
his words carefully, wishing to steal the young girl’s heart. The girl’s cheeks flushed a bright red, making her
even cuter in Peter’s eyes. “What’s your name, miss?” he asked. “Susan.” The girl said and hesitated before
adding, “what’s yours?” Peter grinned. “My name’s Jan, but all my friends call me Peter. You can call me that.”
After talking for a while, Peter learned a lot about Susan. She was a girl who went to Secondary School
and had really good grades. She was a dreamer, and had no clue what she wanted to be when she grew up. Her
favorite color was blue and she loved Jazz. Sweet and innocent was she, and Peter was heads over heels over her.
He got her number before she left for her classes, and he wondered if she saw his happiness. He called her later
that night and asked her out. She said yes.
After their first date, Peter felt even more attracted to her than before. He asked her out many more
times after that, and finally Susan admitted that what Peter felt was mutual. There was no denying that it was
love at first sight.
Despite of having a relationship, Peter was determined to fulfill his dream. He didn’t slack off, instead
he did quite the opposite and became more hardworking than ever. Why? This was because he wished to master
Kung Fu as soon as possible so he could have more time to be with Susan. Susan became his main source of
encouragement and he adored her for supporting him.
One and a half year had passed and Peter was leaving in six months. He never told Susan about his
upcoming departure as he feared she’d become so upset she’d never want to see him again. Finally, he came to a
decision.
Susan was breathing in the fresh night air when she heard someone singing. She smiled because she
knew it was Peter. All of a sudden, he showed up out of nowhere. “I know this is cheesy and I do not sound
