like. Then he saw explosions coming from their way. They had huge flags by their side. It could only mean one
thing. China is at war.
Mao Yi Tai ran to inform the others about what was happening. He told them how large the army was
and that they should all pray that the war quickly ends. The monks obeyed the command and quickly got down
to pray.
The War went on for five days, five horrible days. Mao Yi Tai couldn’t take it any longer. He would
have to do something he thought - something big, big enough to stop this horrible war.
The monk sat down with the other monks and discussed his thoughts. He asked the monks if they had
any ideas for him. There was a long silent pause. Then it came to him. The monks believed that if they prayed
hard enough at the Temple of Heaven all the gods would use their greatest powers to grant it. Maybe if he
prayed hard enough the gods would stop this horrible war. He shared his idea with the monks; they agreed with
Mao Yi Tai and left him alone to pray.
Mao Yi Tai ran to the Temple Of Heaven. He sat a few steps behind the idols and said the following
prayer:
Oh dear gods of the Temple of Heave, I and the innocent people seek your help in our situation.
The Mongols and Chinese are at war. Our emperor is an evil man; all he seeks is war and will never
give up. I and the other monks are afraid for the people of China. Please, Please, Please all mighty gods stop this
war with great powers!”
The Monk had used up all of his power to say this powerful prayer. He waited for something to happen.
Nothing did. The monk had started to give up hope, and then he saw it. From the clouds, twelve glowing figures
came down gently. They were the gods.
The gods looked superb. They formed a line. They stood hand in hand, glowing as bright as the sun.
Then from them came a beam of white light, brighter than anything you have ever seen before. As soon as the
powerful beam touched the ground it created a huge wall dividing the two armies apart. They had created The
Great Wall Of China.
And that that is why they call it “The Great Wall”
