time. Lau Guan Xi was fighting with all his might when all of a sudden the fateful arrow struck into his heart
and he dropped onto the ground. Our Great Warrior was down.
I ran towards Lau Guan Xi and knelt down before him. He was lifeless. The enemy was pushing up
towards us, encircling us like we were prey. Fear crept on me. Suddenly I heard the voice of the Great Warrior.
Take the sword from my hand and fight, boy. Now it is the time for you to help us. Have no fear as I will guide
you.” I scrambled for the Warrior’s sword and found it. As I lifted it up, a dazzling shimmer almost blinded my
eyes. It was the sword I saw in my dream! I held it high in the air and suddenly the same dragon appeared. It
was the most beautiful creature I had ever seen, so majestic and powerful. I held my sword and ran into the
enemy. Suddenly I was fighting the way I never knew I was capable of. I was slashing my enemies one after
another. Our soldiers who were once too weak to fight had now got on their feet and fought with all their might.
Immediately the sky split opened and the dragon roared. The earth rumbled beneath our feet and the Mongolians’
faces turned white as they knew they were doomed. They started fleeing and our people cheered.
I sat on the wall, panting, and rest my sword against the ragged wall. Suddenly the wall opened up and
my sword sank into it. As quickly as it opened, the wall closed up again. I knew I had done my duty and now I
could take a rest, knowing that our village would have peace form now on.
The sunlight shines through my window. I look far out into the mountain where the Great Wall lies. It
looks so serene now. Not leaving any trace, the Great Wall has buried within it the legend of the sword and the
story of the Great Warrior Lau Guan Xi, whose spirit arose in the dragon and saved us all.
