And from that day onwards, I counted how many days had passed by. Minutes turned into Hours,
Hours turned into Days and Days turned into Years, but I still waited and I prayed every night for him to come
back. Every day, I would go to the Great Wall at least 3 times a day hoping he would be there. 5 years had
passed; I was starting to lose hope. We didn’t have much contact; I only knew news about him through my
parents. There were nights when I locked myself in my room crying, I just missed him so much, and my parents
were starting to get worried about me. There was a time when they couldn’t take it any more so, they told me,
Honey, it’s been too long. I guess it’s time to move on.” “He will come back. He promised me!” I answered
and ran out of the house. It was snowing but I didn’t care.
Before I knew it, I was at the Great Wall. I stared at the stars, closed my eyes and murmured, “Sing
Chun, when will I ever get to be in your arms again.” And when I opened my eyes, I saw a man standing a
distance away from me. He looked familiar, and then I instantly thought of Sing Chun. I’m only daydreaming, I
said to myself. Then the man called out, “I finally returned and that’s all I get, huh Song?” I was shocked. “Sing
Chun, is that really you??” I shouted back. He ran to me and held my face and said, “Song. Yes. It’s me. I’m
back.” I wrapped my arms around his neck and held him close; I couldn’t control my tears of happiness.
You’re finally here” I said again and again, I couldn’t believe that it was real. He smiled and said, “One little
girl once told me, that if two lovers meet after a separation of a few years at the Great Wall, they were meant to
be and will be together, forever and ever.” I giggled because I knew that he was talking about me. “And now,
my prince has arrived.” I said softly. “And I promise, I’ll never leave you again.” He answered back in the same
tone and the moment ended with a kiss.
That’s it for my story. My children love it whenever I tell it to them. My youngest daughter told me
that she wants her love story to be similar to mine when she grows up. Even my husband loves hearing it, and
he’s even making a book out of it. It’s going to be published soon; he said that he wants the whole world to
know about our love story. I guess you noticed I said “our”, and yes, Sing Chun proposed to me at the same
night, we even got married at the Great Wall and all I can say is that our “forever” has just begun.
