lass, the Great Wall is one of the greatest wonders of the world. The Great Wall has a history of
more than two thousand years. Some of the sections are now in ruins or have disappeared,” said
Mr. Cheng, the history teacher. “Let’s go to the Great Wall and explore it,” Jason turned his
head and whispered to Kyle. “Good idea, we can ask Jimmy to go with us,” Kyle replied.
They were excited w
The boys set off on a Saturday morning. They carried their backpacks with some water.
hen they arrived at the Great Wall. The Great Wall was built along with the mountains. It
was surrounded by the beautiful scenery. They whistled while they were climbing on the Great Wall. “Look at
that part of wall, it’s in ruins!” Kyle pointed to the part of the Great Wall which was on the top of another
mountain. “How about we explore that watch tower,” he asked. “Great! Let’s go,” Jason and Jimmy yelled.
When they reached the watch tower, the sun was covered by the grey and thick clouds. They took a break in the
watch tower. It was old and dirty.

Jason went for a walk around the watch tower. Suddenly, he shouted, “Guys, come here! I found a
trapdoor!” Kyle and Jimmy rushed over. “We can try to open it.” Jimmy yelled with excitement. The boys
pulled the trapdoor but it wouldn’t budge. At last, they managed to open it. The cold and damp air rushed out
from the big hole. The boys peered down the hole. “I want to go down and explore it.” Kyle said. The other two
boys nodded. They took a deep breath then walked carefully down the stairs.
At the bottom of the stairs, they saw many bats above them. “This place is creepy. I hate it,” shouted Jimmy.
There was a tunnel in front of them. It was dark and narrow. “I love going on adventures,” Jason said, “Me
too,” Kyle and Jimmy yelled with excitement. The boys decided to go inside the tunnel. They walked along the
damp tunnel slowly. They found some strange symbols carved on the stone wall. “Are they secret codes?” Kyle
asked. He copied down the symbols on a piece of paper and put it in his backpack. Suddenly, they heard a
squeak behind them. “What’s that sound?” Kyle asked. “I think it is the sound from the bats.” Jason replied.
They walked deeper and deeper down the tunnel. It was getting darker and darker. “Do you think this tunnel
will lead us to a dungeon?” asked Kyle. “I hope not, I’m scared,” Jimmy squeaked. He tried not to think about
the slimy things on the stone walls. After a while, there were two paths in front of them. One was dark and
damp. Another path was glowing with green light. They decided to go to the path that was glowing on the left.
While they were walking, Kyle suddenly shouted. “Look! There is a skeleton over there.” They found
themselves stepping in an ankle-deep puddle of murky water. Jimmy screamed as he felt something bite his leg.
They saw more and more skeletons on the floor. “Argh! What a disgusting smell.” Jimmy squealed. “Let’s get
out from this horrible place.”
As the boys were returning to the trapdoor, they saw a shinning stone near a skeleton. It was a purple crystal
stone. Jimmy quickly picked it up and shoved it into his pocket. Suddenly, they felt something tapping on their
shoulders. They turned around and saw some skeletons hanging down from the top of the tunnel. They screamed
and ran away as fast as they could. Jimmy tripped over a rock and fell on the ground. The other two boys pulled
him up and kept on running.
At last, they rushed out of the trapdoor. They sat on the ground, panting hard. They felt relieved. Suddenly,
a green snake came out from the trapdoor and slithered towards Jimmy. The boys screamed and ran away. They
ran until the snake was nowhere in sight. “We are lucky to get away from the snake,” said Jason.
The sky was turning dark, the storm clouds came closer and the bigger raindrops began to fall. They rushed
to the nearest watch tower for shelter. They were all soaked. They decided to spend their night in the watch
tower. The boys felt cold and hungry. They were also tired as they had walked for a whole day. Blind and bright
shots of lightning crossed the sky were followed by roars of thunder. The thunder reverberated within their
heads all night. They started thinking about how awful it was to stay in the horrible watch tower over night.
I’m afraid. I want to go home,” Jimmy cried sadly. The boys sat closely and tried to comfort each other. “Will
we die here?” Jason asked. His eyes were filled with tears. They dreaded the claws of the dead and were afraid
that they wouldn’t last though the night. They began sobbing in a corner. They missed their families so much.
They huddled together shaking to keep warm. They fell asleep after a while. At around midnight, the purple
crystal stone began to glow in Jimmy’s pocket.
The next morning, the sky was blue, the clouds floated in the vast sky. They walked down the Great Wall.
The path was steep and the stairs were high. They walked slowly down the Great Wall. On the way, Jimmy fell
down from the high stairs and broke his leg. Kyle and Jason took turns to carry him back down.
At last, the boys reached the bottom of the Great Wall. They saw their parents waiting at the entrance
anxiously. They rushed to their parents and hugged each other. They gave the purple crystal stone and the
symbols to Professor Tsang to study. He looked at them with an astonished expression and said,
