Her smile disappeared as she said “You know, I was one of the unfortunate people who had to help build
the wall. After I got forced to do so, I was given only enough food to live, never more. I worked for several
years… that’s how I know so much. After some time, I got too exhausted and sick to work because I had no one
to care for me. So I passed away. I don’t know why, but I just wanted to build this.”

Many other people died, right?” I said.
“
Yes, far too many to count though.” She replied laughing. “An old saying was that each stone in the wall
represents a life lost in the walls construction.” I found myself checking my watch as my eyes widened a bit.

It’s 12:30. I guess I should head back now.” I muttered. “Bye bye.” Li Hua said. “See you next time.”
As soon as I got out of the door, it disappeared.
