The Legendary Guardians of China

hung, the bandit leader sat, waiting and waiting in his haunted headquarter. Soon, his messenger,
Yeung, slipped through the narrow entrance and bowed before his cruel leader. Chung clapped his
hands twice and two fighters came with a scroll. “Give it to me.” Chung’s words were icily calm, as if
all of his troubles were over. “Here, Yeung, take it.” He motioned for his fighters to give the scroll the
messenger and he turned to Yeung and glared at him. “Now, tell Leung, the Emperor of China,
surrender or battle!” When Yeung squeezed out of the door, Chung snarled, “Everybody goes away, for I shall
have some time to spend for my glory.” When his soldiers left, he nodded, and stared into the sky, and he
muttered, “No one will ever stop me to conquer China!” But Chung never noticed two amber eyes watching him
from the sky, fire flickering slowly around it.

When Leung, the evil, powerful emperor of China got the scroll from Yeung, his face turned red and smoke
came pouring from his ears, and he threw Yeung in prison. He realized China needed to get ready for the great
battle with the bandits and get his army and defense even stronger. He had a wonderful idea that needed millions
slaves to make it happen. He sent his army to the peaceful villages to capture young men, destroyed their
peaceful lives and
turned into terrible ones. “They will keep working for my great project until they die and the
bandits would never defeat us again!” When the armies returned with captured people, he commanded them to
work. He threatened them, roared at them and even tortured them as they made his great, giant wall with bare
hands. He fed them little food, and many of them were sick. He killed the sick, and captured more to replace the
dead. Soon, his plan took shape after months. His Great Wall was almost finished, and it would be used to block
out the bandits. At that night, he had another idea : He needed an enormous tower to reach the clouds and to
watch everything below him, so he could rule everything. He kept on capturing people to fulfill his next cruel
dream.....
Suddenly, the air was moist and the clouds were dark as the emperor’s thoughts. The soldiers hurled the
slaves in the dark jail cell, and they hurried into the royal palace to shelter. Just then, the rain became heavy.
The air became boiling hot and the raindrops burned like fire. The storm clouds parted, revealing sharp talons
and a pair flaming legs. It’s wings had fire of red and gold, and fire burned on every bit of the bird-alike body.
The beak shined with flames and the eyes of anger stared at the Great Wall. It was a phoenix, kind and fearless.
It wanted to stop the emperor from doing more evil things but it needed extra help. The phoenix started to send
mighty blasts of magical fire into the Great Wall. The wall glowed for a second and then the flames faded. The
phoenix hoped the legendary fire would work, so it would save many innocent lives. It flew deeper into the
storm, then faded into the misty rain, leaving nothing. The Great Wall started wiggling as a pair of dragon eyes
started growing on the wall.
Hours passed, Leung’s army woke the slaves and sent them back to work. The Great Wall of China was
completed. The slaves were sent to build his new tower. Leung stared at the Great Wall proudly, then heard a
cry from the bandit leader, Chung, riding an giant eagle, as the rest of his bandits screamed “ATTACK!!”
Two sleepy eyes opened on the wall and watched the battle between bandits and the evil Emperor, ready to
spring at the right moment. Many were injured, but both sides refused to give up. In the middle of the furious
battle, the Great Wall of China glowed like fire, then shot out of the ground. A mighty and powerful dragon was
born from the wall! It attacked and fought, but didn’t kill. Soon, all the bandits and Leung’s soldiers were
scared, and they shrieked with anger.
Leung sneered but didn’t notice the dragon landing and he came face-to-face with the stony wall-alike
dragon. The dragon declared angrily “You are evil. You will get eaten, and a new leader with a kind heart will
rule China.” Then the dragon gave a snarl, then opened it’s mouth of bricks and ate him, and he also lowered his
head and gulped Chung up. He stormed back to where the Great Wall of China once stood, a lying down on the
perfect place and went back to sleep, and the glow of fire shimmered on him and the mighty dragon was once a
wall again, with a burned note flickering beside him.
The army fled back into the palace, waiting and thinking about what to do. When a young and wise person
named Lee came, he saw a burned and squished note beside the Great Wall of China. He read aloud, “Whoever
finds this note is the kind and loyal leader of China. The Great Wall is a real dragon, and be nice or you are
ready to get eaten and you will feel the stony jaws very soon. The phoenix is a legendary creature of China, and
now a new one is added. It is a dragon, a symbol of good luck. The phoenix and the dragon are now the
legendary guardians of China.” Lee smiled, and then went to tell China people the legend. He told them he was
chosen by the legendary guardians and promised he will be nice and good. All the slaves were set free
immediately. Also, he declared to lower the taxes for all China people.
