wanted. The merchant had always wanted a child himself, so he asked for a child. Days were good for
the fairy at first. But one night, she heard footsteps approaching. Then suddenly, a hand grabbed her, she
immediately recognized that she kidnapped by pirates! They said they came here for the wish. “We want gold,
silver and jewels,” said the pirates in a terrible voice. The fairy wanted to refuse, but the pirates threatened her
by saying that they would cut of her wings if they didn’t get the wish. The poor little fairy had no choice but to

In a small village in China, there lived a poor farmer with his wife and his son. The farmer’s son was a
young and well-mannered gentlemen, he loved his father very much. He always heard his father talking about
how good life would be if they were rich. To make his father happy, the farmer’s son left the village at midnight
and started his journey to the Great Wall, seeking for the fairy in the myth.
At first, he was admiring the view around the Great Wall because he always stayed in the village so he had
never seen such a beautiful sight. The first few months, he felt relaxed in his journey. But then came the rainy
season, he had no shelter to cover the rain.
Finally, the rain stopped. He continued his journey. Suddenly, some bandits blocked his way. They said
that they would let him continue unless he gives up all his property. The farmer’s son wanted to say “no”. But
then he thought of his father, he had decided to give up his property. The next day, he was hungry and wanted to
take out a loaf of bread from his backpack but then he remembered that he gave it to the bandits. Therefore, he
had nothing to eat.
The farmer’s son was worn out. He was tired, hungry and freezing-cold. Then, he drifted off to sleep, He
had a wonderful dream. He dreamed about the village, his father, his mother and how life would be when he got
the wish in his dreams.
He was woken up by the sunlight shining on his face. He was smiling as bright as the sun while he was
thinking of his dream. But the smile didn’t last long. He remembered that he was robbed by the bandits, he let
out a sigh. He was just about to turn around, give up his dream and head back to the village. That’s when he saw
all the other tourists climbing the Great Wall; they were competing each other and were climbing passionately.
Throughout the journey, he made friends with another female tourist. The friends were chatting happily. That’s
when the other female tourist realized the reason why the farmer’s son came to the Great Wall. “The reason I
came here is because my father always tells me how he dreamed life would be if we were rich, and I always
heard my mother telling about this famous myth about the fairy at the west end of the Great Wall of China. So, I
came out to find the fairy and see if the fairy is real for myself,” said the farmer’s son. The female tourist looked
down at him. He doesn’t have a backpack, his cloths were torn, his hair was wet and soggy and he has got dirt
all over him, but he still continued his journey. She was touched. And she agreed that he deserved the wish after
all. So she did something, she pulled him aside in a dark corner and then…… POOF! A cloud pixie dust
appeared all around the female tourist and then the girl became a fairy! The farmer’s son gasped. “Tell me what
you want,” said the fairy finally. The farmer’s son took a deep breath and said, “dear fairy, I hope my family and
the people in our village could live happily ever after and that we could have enough money to afford our daily
supplies.”
The fairy snapped her fingers and a glimmer of light floated in her hand gracefully on her palm. She
placed the glimmer on top of the farmer’s son’s head, then it burst in to millions of twinkling stars showered on
his head. “Rise! Go home! Your parents are worried,” declared the fairy. He did as he was told. When he arrived
at the village, everyone was happy but surprised at the same time, they all thought he was dead.
They threw a big party to celebrate the homecoming of the farmer’s son. And that’s the story of the myth
of the fairy at the west end of the Great Wall of China.
