The New Tale of the Great Wall

oday, Annie and I arrived Beijing airport. At first, we took a Taxi to the Hotel, after we left all our
luggages in the Hotel, we headed to the first scenic spot, the Great Wall. We went there by bus but the
way to there was very far away. few hours later, the bus arrived but we were very hungry, so we ate
some food in a restaurant nearby. Half hours later, we finished our brunch and we set off to the Great
Wall.
At twelve o’clock, we arrived the Great Wall. “What a pretty place!” said Annie happily. She jumped up and
down. “Annie stops that!” You will destroy the Great Wall.” I said. Suddenly, the weather became badly, it
rained heavily and the wind blew strongly.

Annie and I ran to a Signal Station. When we were there, Annie asked “What did this use for ?” I explained
to her “The Signal Station was used to tell the commander how many enemies out of the Great Wall. If one or
two or up to 100 enemies are found, light one beacon fire and fire one salvo. If the enemy numbers 500, light
two beacon fires and fire two salvos. Three beacon fires and three salvos indicate more than 1,000 enemy forces.
Four fires and four salvos are for upwards of 5,000 troops. Five fires and five salvos correspond to more than
10,000
enemies.”
When we got out of the Signal Station, the ground broke and we fell into a gap. We kept falling down and
Annie asked nervously “When will we reach the ground, are we going to die?”. “I think we almost there.” I
replied. The Tunnel end was bright and we closed our eyes.
“
Who are they? Are they enemies?” said a man. We woke up and looked around. “Who are you? A solider
asked angrily. “We dropped into a gap and went to this place, where we are?” I asked. “Here is Qin Dynasty and
the emperor is Qin Shih Huang” said the solider. Annie asked “What year is it now?” I answered “Here is two
hundred and twenty one years before Chris born.” “Shut up! Go to build the Great Wall!” said the solider.
On the way to the Great Wall, we saw many people were pull out by the soldiers, many people cried on the
street. “The Emperor is too bad!” said Annie angrily. An hour later, we arrived the Great Wall, we saw many
people carrying rocks, digging and carving. They were crying, the soldiers were forcing them to do the job by
beating their body with a thong. “Go and carry that heavy rock!” the soldiers shouted. Some dead bodies were
moved into a hole. It was cruelty and terrible. Suddenly the ground broke and we fell down again.
“
Where are we going?” asked Annie worryingly. The tunnel end started to have some light; it was getting
stronger and stronger. “Who are they? Are they visitors?” said a man. We looked around. “Where we are?”
asked Annie. “Here is Sung Dynasty” said a farmer. “Is there a lot of battles?” asked Annie. “I am a farmer not a
solider. The country does not have many battles.” Replied the farmer. “Why?” I asked. “The Great Wall is a
good defense for enemies to break in, so we are safe.” said the farmer happily. “Thank you!” said Annie.
A big wind began to blow, it was such like a Tornado, we held a tree tightly, the wind blew stronger and
stronger, the farmer was blown away together with his crops. We were being pulled inside the Tornado, and
turned round and round. I held Annie’s hand tightly and hope that we wouldn’t be lost.
Suddenly, the Tornado stopped and we fell to a new Dynasty. We felt very dizzy. “Wow! The Great Wall
rebuilding work is proceeding, is it Ming Dynasty?” asked Annie. When I wanted to answer, a boy replied to
Annie’s question “There are many wars after Sung Dynasty, the Great Wall break very easily, so now the new
Emperor of Ming Dynasty Chu Yuan Zhang told the people to help rebuilding the Great Wall.”
“
Are there many people die and cry because of the construction.” asked Annie. “No, we use cement and
brick to build the Great Walls, it is better, stronger walls. With new tools including levers and windlasses, simple
hoisting system of ropes and cranks used to raise and lower loads, it makes the work faster and safer. After that,
the worker can eat full.” said the boy.
“
Can we see the Emperor?” I asked. The child did not say a single word, he walked a long way, we followed
him. Near evening time, we arrived the Emperor’s Palace. “The Emperor! Wish you enjoy Ten thousands, Ten
thousands and One hundred thousands years of life” said by a solider. “My dear Emperor, we are happy to see
you today, we come from the west.” I said. “Welcome to our country Ming.” said the emperor.
The emperor turned to a solider. “Come on, please reserve rooms and dinner for our two pretty visitors, be
fast!” “Let’s talk in the other place” said the Emperor. “Why do you visit this place?” asked the Emperor. “What
year is it?” whispered Annie. “I think it is thirteen sixty eight.” I answered. “We wanted to know more about the
Great Wall, please.” I said. When the Emperor was thinking, his servant told him the dinner was ready in the
dinning room. “That’s nice!” said the Emperor.
During the dinner, I learnt a lot of advanced technology that Ming builders were using to build the Great
Wall, it was very interesting. After dinner, the servant sent us to our rooms, as we were tired, we felt into sleep
very fast. Upon we woke up, we found ourselves lying inside a signal station. While we were wondering
whether it was a dream, someone called us to get down the mountain as soon as possible as the sun was going
