The Dragon Fairy of the Great Wall

ong time ago, there was a family. Dad’s name was Nick and Mum’s name was Jessy. They had given
birth to two lovely children, a little intelligent boy named Dick and a little smart girl named Tess. Their
family liked to have trips on vacations. One year, they were going to “The Great Wall”. They decided
to travel by airplane to go there.

ey arrived the Great Wall, they were very surprised. The two children shouted, “Wow! It’s so
long!”

Yes, it was built by common people, farmers, soldiers and slaves from the Warring States Period to Ming
Dynasty. People usually describe that it looks like an enormous dragon,” replied Dad.
“
It is very cool!’’ exclaimed Dick.
“
And interesting too!” Tess added.
Suddenly, something bad happened. The sky turned black and it started to rain. It rained heavily, Tess was
very afraid and she cried, “Dad, mum, what can we do now? We didn’t bring an umbrella.”
She was feeling more frightened because it was even storming at that moment! Everyone ran to
Shanhaiguan Pass to shelter from the heavy rain and the storm. The lightning had hit the trees around the Great
Wall; the trees were even on fire.
All in a sudden, the Great Wall turned into a tremendous real dragon, it started to move its tail. Gradually,
its features began to show. First, it was the two eyes, then two ears, a mouth and a nose. The dragon flew up to
the sky and then opened its mouth widely. All of them were very scared and stood still. They could not believe
their eyes. “How come the Great Wall becomes a real dragon?” wondered Dick.
“
Will it hurt us?” Tess questioned.
At that time, the dragon exclaimed, “Don’t be scared, I am here to save you guys, my name is called the
Great Wall Dragon Fairy and I have been living here for a few thousand years. I am the safety guard of Beijing
and I will protect you from any danger.” Minutes later, they were feeling hotter and hotter as the fire had spread
around them from the trees. They could not escape from the fire. Dick and Tess shouted loudly, “Help, help!
What can we do?”
“
Stay calm, my dear! I believe the dragon can help us,” screamed Jessy.
It was a truth that the dragon really came to save them. It sprayed water on top of the fire. Everyone thought
that the dragon was very brave. Very soon, all the fire was gone. All the things were back to normal. The family
thanked the dragon and they became friends together.
“
Thank you so much, you saved us!” yelled Dick and Tess, they were extremely happy, and also the others.
“
You are so brave, we are so proud of you, Great Wall the Dragon Fairy,” smiled Jessy.
The dragon felt happy as well but he said, “I am getting older and older, you see my body has ruined. I am
afraid that I cannot protect all of the people in danger in the future while I am getting older.”
“
No worries, dragon. You are a fairy and I think you can help yourself, right?” Tess queried.
“
Although I am a fairy, I also need the help of the people not to hurt my body and protect me from the shiny
sun, the strong wind and heavy rain because my resistance to the weather is weaker than before when I am no
longer a young man nowadays,” replied the dragon.
The family promised the dragon that they would take good care of the Great Wall and would not let other
people hurt it. The dragon smiled and it turned back to the Great Wall within a second. The family was amazed
at what they had experienced.
At last, the family finished their trip. Dick and Tess were happy and enjoyed the trip very much. They
hoped they can go to other interesting places on their next vacation.
