Year 3155 Beijing, China

lash! Bang! Pop! Karl and Viktor Klein arrived in the historical city of Beijing by the method of
teleportation. Teleportation was the newest, fastest way to get to your destination in the 32
nd
century.
They were sent on this secret mission by the world’s top investigative agency, Interpol. Karl and Viktor
were brothers and Germany’s most decorated detectives. They had a reputation for solving complex
detective cases, unsolvable to most other detectives. Karl was a tall serious looking man while Viktor
was short and sturdy with a ready smile and an infectious laugh.
As the detectives looked around, an imposing figure in a suit walked briskly towards them. Five tall,
strapping bodyguards with guns, followed him closely shadowing his every move.
F
“
I am General Xi”, he said introducing himself in a resounding voice. “I am here to welcome you to China.
Follow me. Emperor Zhan Shen is waiting for you”, he ordered the detectives. Xi looked threatening but regal in
his suit. He was a strongly built man with broad shoulders and an even broader chest. But in the company of his
menacing bodyguards, even Xi looked small.
The armed gunmen motioned them to follow Xi. They walked through the thick grey air and grime of the
Beijing morning air towards a shining, white skyscraper and made their way slowly through a crowded corridor.
At the end were steel pods.
“
Climb in” ordered Xi.
They stepped in. Xi pressed a button. The steel doors closed silently. Xi then typed in a number on the
keyboard on the wall. The pod blasted up to the highest floor in a couple of seconds. Suddenly the doors opened
and they were in THE WORKING QUARTERS OF THE EMPEROR ZHAN SHEN.
It was a huge room, bigger than anything Karl and Viktor had seen before. Yet it was bare except for a
meeting table and rows of computers. No sunlight entered the room due to the extreme pollution. Emperor Zhan
Shen sat at the head of the table. He was wearing a shimmering blue robe with a fiery dragon imprinted on it. He
carried a ceremonial staff and a shining, bejeweled crown sat on his head.
“
Welcome gentleman”, he said in an authoritative voice.
“
I am Emperor Zhan Shen. Thank you for coming here and offering to solve our problem. I have an
interesting but critical job for you. Please investigate a strange happening that took place recently. A bomb was
recently placed in my secret underground chamber but luckily failed to explode. Other than me and a few other
people like Xi and my bodyguards, all of whom I trust completely, no one is even aware that such a chamber
exists. Who could possibly have planted such a bomb? And what if they are plotting to do so again? Can the two
of you help me solve the mystery?”
“
Yes we will”, they nodded with confidence.
That evening, the Emperor and Xi blindfolded and took them on a journey. The two detectives could smell
the thickly polluted air all around them and wondered where they were being taken. When Xi took off their
blindfold, the detectives found themselves in front of a magnificent structure. In the moonlight, the structure
looked even more imposing and unaffected by the pollution and grime of the capital city. In fact it looked as if it
had existed in this form for thousands of years. “The Great Wall!” exclaimed the detectives.
The Emperor took them down a hidden passage, which led to a massive wooden door. The Emperor opened
the door with a password and led them into a dark, humid chamber. The only light came from the walls glowed
a beautiful shining gold. But something in that chamber felt strange and the detectives were shocked to realize
that they were in the secret chamber of the Emperors of China.
“
This is the chamber where, for over 5000 years, the Emperors of China have planned their most secret
military expeditions and stored their treasures. Nobody knows that such a chamber exists except the most trusted
officials of the Emperors. And yet it was here that a bomb was planted two weeks ago to kill our beloved
Emperor. Find the person who dared do it and we will punish him severely”, thundered General Xi.
The next day, Karl and Viktor began their investigation at the chamber. “Start looking for clues”, said Karl.
They spread out, scanning the area with their Scan28, a device developed by an Indian engineer called Dr.
Professor to help the police to find hidden bombs. Suddenly Viktor’s Scan28 started beeping. “I think I found
something!” he called. As they dug the floor, they came across a sinister-looking circular object. It was as big as
an IPhone 5000 and had many pipes and wires attached to it. The wires ran to a desk with knobs and buttons on
it. As the detectives looked closer, they saw the switch to the circular object which they now realized was
actually a bomb!
As Viktor rushed to deactivate the bomb a large man dressed in black suddenly sprang in front of him as if
from nowhere. He carried a gun and sported a black eye patch. IT WAS GENERAL XI!
