ow!” said Bo as she entered the living room
idea
What happened? Why are you so happy?” said Bo’s aunt, Ms. Biyu.
Today is the last day of Grade 6!” Bo declared to her aunt with a smile.
I completely forgot about that. So what are your plans Bo?”
Bo thought about many amazing places to visit during the summer, then an
struck to her. “Aunt, why don’t we visit China to see the Great Wall? Even
though I am Chinese I haven’t been there.
W
Bo, I know you really want to visit China but it is not safe. It is believed that when anyone visits
the Great Wall they never comeback and maybe that is how your parents never came back from China”
said Biyu.
Bo however believed that her parents would come back for her. She tried not to cry but she burst
into tears and ran to her room.
That night aunt Biyu got a strange dream, where an old woman kept on saying “You have to go to
China. You have to take Bo to find her parents”
Biyu last heard from her brother when he was in Beijing. Aunt Biyu thought of the dream and felt
that it could be a good omen and probably she will find her brother and sister in law, who went missing
for few years now.
When Bo and her aunt sat down to have their breakfast the next day, aunt Biyu started talking
about visiting China and said “Bo, what if we visit China over the holidays....”
Are we going to china?”
Yes, we are. We are leaving tomorrow afternoon for Beijing.”
Yes! Thank you aunt Biyu, thank you so much.”
After finishing her breakfast, Bo ran to her room. As she was packing her stuff, Bo thought why
her aunt changed her decision over night, but could not comprehend, nevertheless she was going to her
dream country.
It was a long flight from Chicago to Beijing, All along the way Biyu was telling Bo all kinds of
stories about China, its culture and its vast history.
They reached Beijing late in the afternoon, and due to jet lag they were feeling sleepy, as it would
have been late night in Chicago.
They finally reached the Hotel near Beijing North railway station.
Okay Bo. Here we are China. Let’s get freshen up and have our lunch, later we can hit the bed”
said Aung Biyu.
Bo had some strange feeling when she came to China, she felt like she was there to accomplish a
mission. The strange thoughts wondered around her head all the time.
Good Biyu, you came to China. Now take Bo to the Great Wall.” said a voice of an old woman
Who are you. Why do you want me to follow your instructions, Go away don’t disturb me” replied
aunt Biyu.
Aunt Biyu suddenly woke up in the middle of night, had a glass of water and again went off to
sleep. The old woman again came in her dream & asked him to take Bo to the Great wall.
In the morning Aunt, Biyu thought this old woman was directing her to go to the Great Wall
probably to unveil a secret or unearth some treasure!?
Aunt Biyu & Bo got set after a quick breakfast to Beijing North Train Station. Aunt Biyu said “Bo
we will take fast train to Badaling and thereafter we will have to walk for about half hour to reach the
Great Wall”
As they reached the entrance of Badaling Great Wall, suddenly a big lightning struck the Great
Wall when Bo stepped on the very first block of the trail. The walls cracked open. Bo’s heart skipped
few beats, she was afraid she held her aunt’s arm as tight as she could Aunt Biyu muttered to herself
that “coming to the Great Wall was a big mistake.” She muttered those words again and again so soft
that no one could hear her, but maybe someone had. In a short while became pitch dark. There was
silence for a few minutes, the wind did not make a sound, a white skinny figure appeared in front of
aunt Biyu, it seemed to float in the free air, like a ghost. “Thank you” it whispered. The voice seemed
familiar to aunt Biyu, a woman’s voice. It took time for aunt Biyu to realize whose voice it was and
